Star Wars Possibly Revealed Prophecy Confirming Palpatine's Return

The return of Emperor Sheev Palpatine is a surprise, to be sure, but a welcome one. But is it possible that the Sith Lord's comeback in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker has been foretold a long time ago? New evidence may have confirmed that Star Wars somehow prophesized the Emperor's return and two important characters may have known about it.

A post on Reddit points out an entry from the Claudia Gray novel Master and Apprentice which follows the story of Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi before the events in Star Wars: The Phantom Menace. In the passage, it is revealed that Count Dooku was particularly interested in one prophecy that read, "He who learns to conquer death will through his greatest student live again."

The post suggests that the prophecy might be referring to Darth Plagueis, who is said to have figured out the secrets of immortality. However, some fans also believe that it could be about Palpatine finding a way to resurrect himself through a new student who might be Supreme Leader Snoke.

There are several ways to interpret what the prophecy says. A few have also pointed out that it could be talking about Luke Skywalker passing on all of his knowledge to Rey, thus making him live on through his young student. In this case, it could refer to just about every Jedi Master who has ever accepted their own death knowing they have taught their apprentice well.

It is still unclear just how Palpatine will be brought back in The Rise of Skywalker. In the meantime, it is best to take this with a grain of salt.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker hits theaters on December 20.
