Star Wars: Petition for 4-Hour Revenge of the Sith Cut Reaches 20K Signatures

There is little doubt that Revenge of the Sith was an awesome film and a fitting end to the Star Wars prequel trilogy. However, it looks like fans may have been missing out on a longer cut of the movie. A new petition has just suggested that there is a four-hour director's cut by George Lucas that has not yet been released and not surprisingly, over 20,000 fans are hoping to see it.

The petition on Change.org is addressed to Lucas and points out that the director had initially meant for Revenge of the Sith to be a four-hour film. Although it is unclear what could have been in the longer version but the petition insists that Lucas "should do the right thing and give the fans what we deserve and what is rightfully ours."

"We love democracy, and we hope [Lucas] does too. By signing this you are letting your voices be heard. If this petition does go viral, then we will have unlimited power and if George does the right thing then he would be strong and wise and we would all be very proud of him," the petition reads.

Revenge of the Sith was first released on May 19, 2005, and the theatrical cut was already a lengthy 140 minutes or 2 hours and 20 minutes. Lucas had previously confirmed that there were several deleted scenes including a meeting between the senators that could have been the birth of the Rebel Alliance.

The petition for the four-hour cut of Revenge of the Sith has already reached over 20,000 signatures. You can sign the petition here.
