Star Wars: Patty Jenkins Shares Hopeful Rogue Squadron Update

One of the most exciting updates during Disney Investor Day was the confirmation that Patty Jenkins is working on a new Star Wars film. But when exactly can we expect to know more about Star Wars: Rogue Squadron? The Wonder Woman 1984 director has shared some awesome news about the highly anticipated project.

Jenkins recently spoke to Collider about her upcoming projects which included Rogue Squadron. Interestingly, the filmmaker refused to reveal who is working on the script but pointed out that they are almost done with the screenplay.

"I want him to have his own proper announcement, so I'm going to wait until that comes out, but we're very far into the, we're finishing the treatment basically, which is pretty big," Jenkins said. "So it ends up being like where you're fairly close to a screen, a well-along screenplay by the time I'm done with the treatment in my process. So yeah, we've been working on it for a while. It's going great. I'm super excited about it."

But will Rogue Squadron actually bring back a beloved character from the original Star Wars film trilogy? When asked whether the movie is about Jek Tono Porkins, Jenkins chose to remain coy. "I can not definitively state anything," she said. Nevertheless, we're hoping that the new project will pay tribute to Porkins.

Star Wars: Rogue Squadron "will introduce a new generation of starfighter pilots as they earn their wings and risk their lives in a boundary-pushing, high-speed thrill-ride, and move the saga into the future era of the galaxy." The movie is scheduled for release on December 25, 2023.
