Star Wars Obi-Wan Kenobi Spinoff Production Start Date Revealed

Last August, Lucasfilm confirmed that an Obi-Wan Kenobi Star Wars spinoff film is in the works, and now we know when its production will start.

According to Omega Underground, the next Star Wars Story will begin filming on January 2019, in Pinewood Studios in London.

It was reported back in August that Stephen Daldry was in talks to direct the film, but that has yet to be confirmed. Many fans are hoping to see Ewan McGregor reprise his role but Lucasfilm hasn't announced the cast for the film yet.

The film's working title is Joshua Tree, and if the spinoff film will start filming in January 2019, then that would keep Lucasfilm's goal of releasing a Star Wars film every year, so the Obi-Wan spinoff will most likely be released in theaters in 2020 since Solo: A Star Wars Story will be out in 2018, and Star Wars: Episode IX will be out in 2019.

Star Wars: TheLast Jedi is set to premiere next week, December 15.
