There was a lot of excitement when Lucasfilm announced the Star Wars: Episode IX's full cast list, not only because it revealed the return of Star Wars legends Mark Hamill and the late Carrie Fisher, but also because it brought a few new faces to the galaxy far, far away.
One of those new faces is that of Richard E. Grant, one of Logan's baddies. Though Lucasfilm has yet to confirm the role that Grant is to play, the Swazi-English actor who also appeared in Game of Thrones is more than excited to join the Star Wars franchise.
Taking to Twitter, Grant gushes about getting the role, revealing that he actually won a part in Episode IX by joining a blind audition for the film.
"So, my agent calls me and says, 'You know that thing you self-taped for a couple of months ago?'" the actor explains. "Generic scene. 'The director of this film, J.J. Abrams, would like you to come to Pinewood Studios for a meeting.' To which I go, and imagine myself an hour later, prostrating myself in front of Nina Gold, the casting director who's got me there in the first place. And J.J. said to me, during this meeting, 'Do you want the part?'"
Grant is smiling the entire time he tries to retell the story of how he got the part, and at some point, he admits that while he's been "trying to be cool about this," he knows that he's "been smiling ever since!"
Of course, Grant's excitement to join Lucasfilm's galaxy far, far away comes as no surprise –fans would do anything just to set foot on one of the sets of a Star Wars film and professionals (and even Princes) try their best to make their way into Star Wars cameos.
Though there has been speculation that Grant might be playing a live-action version of the Legends-turned-canon character Grand Admiral Thrawn, Lucasfilm has yet to confirm the role Grant will be playing in Episode IX.
Star Wars: Episode IX hits cinemas December 20, 2019.
