Star Wars: Ming-Na Wen Explains Fennec Shand's Relationship with Boba Fett

One of the best things about The Mandalorian Season 2 was the return of Fennec Shand, who is revealed to have been saved by a mysterious figure in the first season of the Star Wars series. In addition to that, it was confirmed that the figure was actually Boba Fett and that the two have started working together. But what is the relationship between the two characters really like? The Book of Boba Fett star Ming-Na Wen has spoken about how her character views the former bounty hunter.

Fennec Shand was first introduced in The Mandalorian Season 1 but was quickly killed off in the same episode. However, it was revealed in the second season that she was saved by Boba Fett.

We only saw Fennec and Boba working together briefly in The Mandalorian but Ming-Na Wen assures fans that we'll see more of their interesting dynamic in The Book of Boba Fett.

“In The Book Of Boba Fett there will be a lot of exploration of the dynamics between Boba Fett and Fennec Shand, how they complement each other, and what they get out of that relationship,” Wen told SFX Magazine. She then pointed out that Fennec looks up to the man who nursed her back to health.

“He’s someone she respects and they have definitely bonded with him saving her. It allowed her to realise that she might be better off not being solo anymore. She sees her alliance with Boba Fett as a very smart move, in the sense that she’ll have somebody watching her back. And even though it might be extra baggage to have to align herself with someone else, the reward for her at the moment is greater,“ Wen said.

Wen continued by stating how the two characters have something in common. “You know, Boba died – or we thought he did – in the Sarlacc pit, so I think that both of them share those near-death experiences in common. They both have a vulnerability that they understand,” she said.

It's understandable that Fennec Shand is grateful for what Boba Fett has done for her. But will her decision to stick with Boba prove to be a bad one? The truth will be revealed later this month.

The Book of Boba Fett also stars Temuera Morrison as the titular bounty hunter and Jennifer Beals as a mysterious Twi'lek. The series premieres on Disney+ on December 29, 2021.
