Star Wars: Ming-Na Wen Compares The Book of Boba Fett To The Godfather

People are already expecting big things when it comes to The Book of Boba Fett. After all, the new Star Wars series is going to focus on the former bounty hunter as he tries to take control of Tatooine. But will the upcoming show be anything like The Mandalorian? Ming-Na Wen has just compared the new series to the Francis Ford Coppola classic The Godfather!

We already know that The Book of Boba Fett is going to take place right after the events in The Mandalorian Season 2 and will follow Boba and Fennec Shand as they take control of Jabba the Hutt's palace. However, Ming-Na Wen tells Entertainment Weekly that the show will be nothing like the other Star Wars show.

"If The Mandalorian is a planet-hopping, gunslinging Western, Wen describes Boba Fett as 'more like a take on gangster movies' -- less The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, more The Godfather," the report reads.

Wen also pointed out that Boba and Fennec have a connection that goes beyond friendship.

"I feel like [Fennec and Boba] are bonded because both of them had near-death experiences," she said. "They're both bounty hunters, and they do adhere to a certain level of respect and honor. He saved her, and there's a debt to be paid, and bounty hunters honor that debt."

It's cool to know that The Book of Boba Fett will be very different from The Mandalorian. Although everybody enjoys a good Western, there is little doubt that the new show will deal with a different side of the Star Wars Universe.

The Book of Boba Fett will also star Temuera Morrison as the titular former bounty hunter and Jennifer Beals as a mysterious new character who could play a major role in Tatooine. The series premieres on Disney+ on December 29, 2021.
