New Star Wars: The Clone Wars Clip Features Closer Look at The Bad Batch

The seventh season of Star Wars: The Clone Wars is set to debut this Friday, and Lucasfilm has released a new clip from the first episode introducing us to Clone Force 99 a.k.a. the Bad Batch.

Check them out:

If you've watched The Clone Wars, you'll know that 99 was a name of a defective clone that was delegated as a janitor on Kamino. Though he was unfit for service, he still died a heroic death when droids attacked the facility, and it's possible that this squad was named after him; that's why Rex says it's a "nice touch" that they were squad 99.

While the show already makes an effort to differentiate the clones that we've met, the Bad Batch features some troopers that really go out of the way to look different; not even their uniforms match. What's also cool is that they look to have different body types, with one being skinny, and the last one being large and burly.

It's the end of the historic Clone Wars, as the forces of darkness have amassed great power in their bid to transform the Republic into the Galactic Empire. With the Republic on a losing streak, Captain Rex fears the Separatists are using stolen data to help predict the Grand Army's every move. As the threat of defeat looms, Rex teams up with experimental Clone Force 99, also known as the Bad Batch. Together, they embark on a high-risk mission behind enemy lines to uncover the truth behind the Separatist victories.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars Season 7 debuts on Disney+ Feb. 21.
