Star Wars: Mark Hamill Points Out R2-D2's Curious Case In The Rise Of Skywalker Photo

We notice something new every day and that appears to be the case for Mark Hamill. The Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker actor has just pointed out that he discovered a curious detail about R2-D2.

Hamill recently posted two photos on his official Twitter account. The first picture shows the actor when he was still working on A New Hope while the second one is the promo image of Luke Skywalker from The Rise of Skywalker. And once you look at it, you'll notice something strange as well. Check out the post below.

"THEN vs NOW: Have I been growing taller over the years or has R2D2 just been shrinking? YOU DECIDE!" Hamill wrote, adding the hashtags #LargerLukeTheory and #DiminutiveDroidTheory.

This is certainly a curious discovery considering that Hamill probably hasn't grown about a foot since filming A New Hope. However, it might also confirm that the image of Luke and Artoo from The Rise of Skywalker may have been photoshopped. Is it possible that the droid was added into the photo to mislead fans into thinking that they will be reunited in Episode IX?

R2-D2's size in the Rise of Skywalker picture isn't the only thing that stands out. It was previously reported that fans noticed how Luke's hand is very similar to an old Vanity Fair photo featuring Hamill and co-star Daisy Ridley promoting Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Either way, it's safe to say that Luke will still play a large role in Episode IX.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is scheduled for release on December 20.
