Star Wars: Mark Hamill Comments on A New Hope Plot Hole

It has been several years and yet people keep discovering something new about A New Hope. The first Star Wars film had undoubtedly kickstarted what would become one of the most successful media franchises in history but it also had a few plot holes. Not surprisingly, a fan had pointed out that things could have been a lot easier for Luke Skywalker and even Mark Hamill was at a loss for words.

A fan recently tweeted an interesting conversation he had with his own child. "My daughter just asked, 'R2-D2 was there for the whole story and never had his memory wiped so why didn't he just tell Luke that Vader was his father at some point?' I just sat there dumbfounded until she shrugged and walked away," he wrote. It didn't take long before Hamill saw the tweet and offered his own reaction.

"I read this tweet, thought long and hard... then just shrugged and walked away," Hamill wrote before adding the hashtag #NoPlausibleAnswer.

The little girl does have a point there. So why didn't Artoo just tell Luke? There's a lot of reasons why the droid didn't say anything. Maybe R2-D2 didn't want the boy to find out about the truth through a droid. Personally, Artoo may have thought that it would be more entertaining for Luke to find out for himself.

What do you think is the reason why R2-D2 never told Luke about Darth Vader's true identity? Sound off in the comments below.
