Star Wars Confirms Cassian Andor Prequel Series Timeline

We're finally getting new updates on the highly anticipated prequel series to Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. In addition to adding new actors to the cast, Star Wars has confirmed the Cassian Andor show's official timeline.

StarWars.com recently announced that Genevieve O'Reilly will be reunited with Diego Luna and Alan Tudyk in the upcoming series. O'Reilly had previously played Mon Mothma in Rogue One and is the third actor from the film who will appear in the new show. Additionally, the description for the still-untitled series revealed its official timeline.

"Tony Gilroy, who co-wrote Rogue One, will write, direct and serve as showrunner for the series, which takes place five years before the events of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Additional writers on the series include Dan Gilroy (Nightcrawler), Beau Willimon (House of Cards), and Stephen Schiff (The Americans)," the report reads.

This is interesting news considering that some fans believed that the Rogue One prequel will actually serve as Cassian's origin story. However, there is still a possibility that the character's childhood will be explored through some flashbacks. On the other hand, it also confirms that Cassian's life was already interesting even before he ended up working with Jyn Erso.

The series will also introduce Stellan Skarsgard, Denise Gough and Kyle Soller in undisclosed roles. Although the series has not yet been given an official release date, it is expected to premiere on Disney+ by 2021.
