Star Wars: Manny Jacinto Teases New Details on His Role in The Acolyte

The Acolyte is one of the most interesting upcoming shows on Disney+ but we have yet to learn anything substantial about the new Star Wars series. Luckily, Manny Jacinto is sharing some cool details about his role in the show, and he also revealed whether his character will wield a lightsaber.

Manny Jacinto was one of the cast members who attended The Acolyte's panel at Star Wars Celebration 2023. When speaking to Collider, the Good Place star pointed out that his character is not a Force user.

"He's a citizen, he’s a guy within this galaxy who gets pulled into this larger mission within the High Republic and the Jedi. So, whether he likes it or not, he’s kinda in this world," Jacinto said.

He did, however, confirm that two other cast members are lightsaber-wielding Force users and admitted that he would steal their weapons on the set of The Acolyte.

"My extent of playing with the lightsabers is stealing [Dafne Keen’s] or Charlie [Barnett’s] lightsabers and taking selfies in the locker room. So I don’t really get to do that much," Jacinto said.

He then confessed that he wants to be a Force user in the Star Wars show and is planning to ask series creator Leslye Headland to work things out for his character.

"It’s cool watching them work and do their thing. I’m always in awe, especially with these guys getting to do that. So I think I’m jealous. I’ll talk to Leslye again, maybe do something next season," Jacinto said.

For now, it's awesome to know that Jacinto is one of the regular people around the Star Wars Universe but it would be great if his character learns to use the Force and wield a lightsaber.

Manny Jacinto will join Amandla Stenberg, Lee Jung Jae, Dafne Keen, Jodie Turner-Smith, Rebecca Henderson, Charlie Barnett, Dean-Charles Chapman, Carrie-Anne Moss, Margarita Levieva, and Joonas Suotamo. The Acolyte will consist of eight episodes and is expected to premiere on Disney+ in 2024.
