Today marks the one-year anniversary for Solo: A Star Wars Story, and though the film may have underperformed at the box office, a lot of Star Wars fans are hoping to catch Lucasfilm's attention today with the #MakeSolo2Happen hashtag on Twitter. Just in, the hashtag is currently trending, and it's already surpassed 9000 tweets.
Check it out:
While we haven't gotten official support from any higher-ups at Lucasfilm, the best we have is Chewbacca actor Joonas Suotamo using the hashtag for a post last month. Hopefully this time we get the attention of someone like Mark Hamill or god willing Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy.
When it comes to the underperformance of Solo, a lot of people agree that it had nothing to do with the quality of the film, but a combination of unfortunate events. The movie had to compete with the likes of Avengers: Infinity War and Deadpool 2 in the box office, and Disney has admitted to watering down the marketing for the film because they wanted to focus on the invasion of Thanos. Add to that a bunch of ‘fans' who were so ticked off about The Last Jedi that they opted to boycott Solo when it came out.
If anything, I thought the movie was wonderful, and Alden Ehrenreich absolutely delivers as a young Han Solo. He's not the only great thing about the film though as we have Donald Glover's Lando, Emilia Clarke's Qi'Ra, and many more. With the film teasing the involvement of Maul and the return of Jabba the Hutt, everyone is hoping we get a movie or at least a Disney+ series with the Solo characters returning.
