The Star Wars universe is in a pretty good place these days with several Disney+ shows dominating streaming. For a time though, it looked like the beloved science fiction franchise was on the brink of destruction after the sequel trilogy failed to click with longtime fans and critics.

Disney and Lucasfilm would draw flak from the handling of the sequels but there's no denying that lead star Daisy Ridley carried all the burden when The Last Jedi started to shift things in a different creative direction. Despite the backlash she received up until the end of the Skywalker saga, the actress still speaks highly of her Star Wars experience.

Last year, Ridley sparked major speculation about her potential return to a galaxy far, far away and coincidentally, it happened around the time Damon Lindelof's Star Wars film was confirmed to be set post-The Rise of Skywalker. Naturally, it led many to believe that Rey will be involved in the anticipated project but according to the actress herself, Lucasfilm doesn't have plans to bring the divisive character back.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the British star pretty much said that she'd be down to reprise her sequel trilogy role. However, Daisy claims that a Rey Skywalker isn't on the table, at least for now. She said: "I really don’t know if there are plans. I just don’t know. But ultimately, I loved my experience, I loved what I got to do and I love the people I got to work with. So, should that happen again, even once, amazing."

According to recent reports, Lindelof's film which will be directed by Sharmeen Obad-Chinoy will feature new lead characters. That's not to say though that characters from the sequel trilogy can't appear and let's be honest, Rey's "Skywalker" arc has only begun.

Meanwhile, all of your Star Wars favorites — from movies to series are available to stream exclusively on Disney+.
