Star Wars Legend Mark Hamill Wants Negative Opinions About The Rise of Skywalker Kept Shut

First reactions for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker have begun making the rounds online, and while most of those who've seen the film early seem pretty happy with how the third and final entry in Disney's sequel trilogy turned out, critics seem generally divided over the film.

Now, Star Wars legend Mark Hamill urges fans and critics to keep their negative opinions to themselves. Speaking in an interview during the film's premiere, Hamill was asked what he thought of the early reactions to The Rise of Skywalker.

"I hope they enjoy it, and if they don't just keep it to yourself," the Star Wars actor replied in "kidding but not really" kind of tone.

This is new. Hamill has always been vocal about his opinions about Star Wars, sharing his concerns for The Rise of Skywalker's predecessor, Star Wars: The Last Jedi. It seems like Hamill has learned to be a little more withholding now, and it looks like the Star Wars legend wants critics and fans to do the same.

While Hamill urges fans to keep their negative opinions to themselves, we're certain that various conversations and discussions about the new Star Wars movie will circulate online. Star Wars fans are a passionate and opinionated bunch, so whatever they think of The Rise of Skywalker, they're probably going to share online.

Of course, there's nothing wrong with a clean debate. We're all free to have our own opinions about Episode IX. What isn't right is attacking The Rise of Skywalkers' cast and crew just because things don't go the way we want them to.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker premieres December 20, 2019.
