Star Wars Legend Billy Dee Williams Pays Tribute to the Late Chadwick Boseman

There is little doubt that Billy Dee Williams is one of the first actors of color who played a beloved hero in cinema. Not surprisingly, the man who played Lando Calrissian in the original Star Wars trilogy also made sure to play tribute to one of the newer heroes who has inspired the new generation. Williams has posted a touching tribute to the late Chadwick Boseman that truly celebrates the Black Panther star's influence.

Williams took to his official Twitter account to share a photo of Boseman as well as a heartwarming message about the late actor. Check it out below.

"This young man was a true hero. He taught an entire generation of young black children that no matter their background, to be the hero of their own story. He taught an entire generation of young white children that their hero's don't have to look like them," Williams wrote. He then added the hashtag #ripchadwickboseman.

The message is touching and true considering that Boseman's portrayal of T'Challa in the Marvel Cinematic Universe films was an inspiration to children and adults alike. Needless to say, this is one tribute that is truly appreciated.

Boseman was diagnosed with Stage III colon cancer in 2016, which is the same year that he first played Black Panther in Captain America: Civil War. Unfortunately, his struggle with the disease continued but he chose to keep working on more films before his death. Boseman passed away on August 28, 2020.
