It can't be denied that the Star Wars universe features an outstanding collection of antagonists — from Darth Vader to Emperor Palpatine but there's one legendary villain that has yet to make his live-action debut which is honestly quite baffling considering he's still part of the official canon.

We're talking about Darth Plagueis the Wise whose true identity and backstory have yet to be explored. Arguably the most intriguing of all the Star Wars villains, Plagueis has only been mentioned in several mediums, including the Skywalker saga.

Now, it looks like the time has come for Lucasfilm to finally unleash the fabled entity, and according to a new Reddit leak, Darth Plagueis will b making his live-action debut in Star Wars: The Acolyte.

The mind-blowing rumor comes from Redditor u/Aesokas (via Bespin Bulletin) and while the specifics regarding Plagueis' role in the series weren't disclosed, the leaker assures that the character will be involved in the show in some capacity.

Of course, nothing has been officially confirmed yet so it's best to keep expectations low at this rate. However, the idea that Darth Plagueis the Wise will be making an appearance in The Acolyte does make a lot of sense if you'll take into consideration where the project is set, and that is during the High Republic era, taking place a full century prior to the events of Star Wars: The Phantom Menace.

As it stands, key details about Star Wars: The Acolyte have yet to be disclosed.
