Star Wars Kylo Ren Theory Gives New Meaning To The Rise Of Skywalker

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker might only be a couple of months away from its release, but fans can't help but continue cooking up all sorts of theories about the highly anticipated Star Wars sequel trilogy movie. One of the latest fan theories to make the rounds online has been making an interesting suggestion – what if Kylo Ren's (Adam Driver) real name, Ben Solo was actually a fake name? What kind of effect would it have on Episode IX?

Noting the origin story that Solo: A Star Wars Story created for Han Solo's name, this new Star Wars theory by Inverse suggests that Ben Solo's real name could actually be a fake. According to the theory, Ben could have actually been Ben Skywalker instead of Ben Solo. Once Ben started taking his studies as a Jedi seriously, he could have decided to forego his last name Solo for Skywalker. It doesn't really sound like a stretch. For one, Ben didn't have a great relationship with his father. Secondly, he was really obsessed with his grandfather, Dart Vader. Calling himself a Skywalker would have meant more to Ben then going by Ben Solo.

When Ben finally returns to the Light Side of the Force in The Rise of Skywalker, the estranged son of Han Solo (Harrison Ford) and Leia (the late Carrie Fisher) could very well take on the Skywalker name again, giving new meaning to Episode IX's title.

It's an interesting theory, to say the least. What do you think of Ben Solo actually being Ben Skywalker? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comment section below.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker premieres December 20, 2019.
