Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic may be dated but the beloved video game series has maintained its place in the upper echelon of Star Wars games and unsurprisingly, it still holds a special place in the hearts of the franchise's longtime followers and of course, for good reason.
As it stands, a Knights of the Old Republic remake is rumored to be in the works, potentially releasing some time in 2024, and while the buzz surrounding the game continues to be incredibly strong, several reports claim that the video game series will make a massive crossover to Star Wars' live-action universe.
In fact, there's been ongoing speculation that Lucasfilm is developing a KOTOR project which will finally see the live-action debut of the iconic character Darth Revan reportedly played by Keanu Reeves. However, nothing has been officially confirmed yet.
Now, the video game's writer and Darth Revan creator Drew Karpyshyn is breaking his silence on all the live-action KOTOR buzz and shockingly enough, he doesn't seem too keen about the idea of the game being adapted into a film or series.
Responding to fans during a recent Reddit AMA, Karpyshyn reveals why he's skeptical about the idea. He said: "I don't want them to make a [Knights of the Old Republic] film. Or a Mass Effect film. Not if those films are just going to tell the same story as the games. Branching narrative games tell stories in a different way than a linear medium like film, and we have so much content that you'd have to cut 80% of the story to fit it into a film."
He added: "Maybe it could work as a series, but even then I think it would be problematic."

Drew raises a pretty valid argument but the idea of bringing characters like Revan to the live-action universe is just too tempting on Lucasfilm's part not to take advantage of. And considering Disney has been trying its best to expand the Star Wars universe, especially via the Disney+ platform, the project sounds inevitable.
