At one point, there was a Boba Fett project included in Lucasfilm's plans, with Chronicle director Josh Trank confirmed to be developing the film. Fans were excited about what story Trank would come up with following the story of the fan-favorite bounty hunter. Unfortunately, the project was shelved indefinitely and there hasn't been a word about it since… until now.

As some fans may know, Trank parted ways with the studio only after a year the project was announced. There weren't any other details provided as to why it had happened, but some have speculated that Trank was fired by Lucasfilm. In a recent interview with Polygon, he clarifies what went down between him and the studio. "I quit because I knew I was going to be fired if I didn't quit," he revealed.

Trank was said to be struggling with his Fantastic Four movie at the time, along with some conflicts, as expected by most fans, the film was critically panned and his Star Wars spinoff movie never came to fruition.

Aside from the clarification, Trank also detailed how he got attached to a Boba Fett project in the first place, while also revealing that he even made a three-act pitch for the movie. However, as mentioned, he exited from the project a year later.

Unfortunately, the filmmaker didn't get into specifics as to why he thought he was going to be fired. That said, based on his comment, if the movie were to have been pulled through, it's safe to assume that it wouldn't have gone as smoothly as expected as well.
