Can you imagine anyone other than Ewan McGregor playing Obi-Wan Kenobi in the highly anticipated Disney+ series? Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker actor Joonas Suotamo has just admitted that he tried out for the role in a hilarious new video.
Suotamo shared the video on his official Instagram account in celebration of his new followers. Check it out below.
"In honor of reaching 100k followers on Instagram, check out my failed audition to play Obi-Wan in the new Kenobi series. A million thanks to everyone who is following along on my journey, you're the best!" Suotamo wrote.
First of all, that's actually an acceptable impression of the late Alec Guinness playing Old Ben Kenobi in A New Hope. On the other hand, we can't really think of anyone but McGregor taking on the role in the new series but we do applaud Suotamo for the effort.
Although Obi-Wan himself didn't show up in The Rise of Skywalker, fans were delighted when the voices of McGregor and Guinness were heard as the Jedi reached out to Rey during a critical moment in the movie. The brief cameos only made up look forward to the new show even more.
The premise of the Obi-Wan Kenobi series is still a mystery but it could follow the Jedi Master during his exile on Tatooine where he kept guard over the young Luke Skywalker from afar. It's going to be an interesting time for the character and we can't wait to see McGregor back in action soon.
The Obi-Wan series has not yet been given an official release date. In the meantime, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is screening in theaters worldwide.
