Jon Kasdan's Solo: A Star Wars Sequel Could Bring Back Jabba The Hutt

Solo: A Star Wars Story director Jon Kasdan has a sequel in mind for his Star Wars spinoff movie.

Energized by the #MakeSolo2 happen movement, the director decided to take to Twitter to encourage fans to keep rallying for a Solo sequel hinting at his idea for the film. Kasdan shares a picture of three of the galaxy far, far away's syndicates – there's the Crimson Dawn (which we learn is actually lead by Maul in Solo), the Pykes, and the Hutts.

Star Wars fans would definitely love the idea of a syndicate war. Not only would it feature more of Maul and Qi'Ra (Emilia Clarke) but it would also allow major cameos like Jabba the Hutt, a character who is also very closely tied to Han Solo (Harrison Ford, Alden Ehrenreich).

The only question now is whether Lucasfilm would greenlight a Solo sequel. Sure, the film may have its fans, however, the Star Wars spinoff movie didn't do quite well at the box office, partly because of Disney's failure to market the film properly.

Not only that, but the Mickey Mouse House is planning to slow down the production of Star Wars films, saying that it's going to take a break after the release of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker this year. Once the film franchise returns, we expect Disney to put its focus on the Lucasfilm's new trilogies – one by Game of Thrones showrunners DB Weiss and David Benioff, another by Star Wars: The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson.

Disney might consider making Solo 2 if fans make enough noise though. Let's see whether they have the energy and persistence.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker premieres December 20, 2019.
