Star Wars: Jon Favreau Talks the Difference Between The Mandalorian and Boba Fett

Boba Fett was the definitive Mandalorian in Star Wars, and a lot of Star Wars fans were confused when a Mandalorian series was announced for Disney+ and it didn't have Boba as the main character. As it turns out, showrunner Jon Favreau believes there's a significant difference between Boba Fett and Pedro Pascal's incoming anti-hero.

When it came to making the show, Favreau told Entertainment Weekly about the technicality that Boba isn't really a Mandalorian; he just adapted the look. He also goes on to say, "And unlike Boba, he's operating in a much more unforgiving landscape where survival is difficult enough, let alone flourishing,

With Boba also aligning himself with the Empire, star Pedro Pascal reveals that his "Mando" character is actually a bit nobler. Pascal says the Mandalorian will ‘do the right thing', but "his duties could very much be in conflict with that — and doing the right thing has many faces."

Personally, I'm very excited to see where the series goes. Though a lot of people love Jedi and lightsabers, I always preferred the grimy "non-specials" like the smugglers and pilots. You can imagine my disappointment when Solo underperformed in the box office and killed any chances of a sequel. Hopefully, with these Disney+ shows, we can take a look at the world of Star Wars without the main conflict of the Dark Side and the Light.

The Mandalorian is expected to debut on Disney+ when it officially launches on Nov. 12.
