Star Wars: Jon Favreau Signed 'Insane' Deal with Lucasfilm After Mandalorian Success

There is little doubt that The Mandalorian has been a huge success for Lucasfilm since the first season was released back in 2019. Since then, things have changed for Star Wars and Jon Favreau, who was able to sign an "insane" deal with Lucasfilm to continue working on more shows for the studio!

According to a report from Puck, Jon Favreau was initially signed on to work on just one season of The Mandalorian. However, the show's success allowed the Lion King director to negotiate a better deal so he could continue to be on board. Although details about the contract were not revealed in the report, there is little doubt that it would include more Disney+ projects for Favreau.

It's not a surprise that Jon Favreau signed a new contract with Lucasfilm after the success of The Mandalorian. After all, it would only make sense that the studio would want to replicate the success of the series. The unexpected discovery here is that the series was only projected to run for one season. Luckily, Lucasfilm and Disney agreed that the show should continue to tell Din Djarin and Grogu's story.

The Mandalorian is not the only show that Jon Favreau is involved in. He also created the spin-off series The Book of Boba Fett and is helping Dave Filoni develop Ahsoka. With that in mind, Favreau is expected to continue being a major part of the Star Wars Disney+ shows in the future.

For now, Lucasfilm and Disney have not yet announced the official release date for The Mandalorian Season 3. However, the series is already expected to return with new episodes on Disney+ by the end of the year. In the meantime, fans can enjoy the first two seasons of the show on the streaming service.
