Star Wars: Jon Favreau Confirms New Character is Important to The Mandalorian Story

It's an awesome week for Star Wars fans as the first two episodes of The Mandalorian have been aired. Not surprisingly, both episodes are strongly suggesting that a new and completely unexpected character will be playing a huge role in the series. Luckily, creator Jon Favreau has confirmed that we'll be seeing more of this character in the future.

WARNING! Spoilers ahead from The Mandalorian Season 1 Episode 2, proceed with caution!

In Chapter Two, the titular Mandalorian and the target he procured from the first episode need to trek through the desert to get to the former's ship. Unfortunately, they encounter several setbacks that take out most of the bounty hunter's weapons. Interestingly, the target, which is now being referred to as "The Child", somehow help the Mandalorian at the last minute. Although the effort exhausts the child, they manage to make it out of the planet.

So is Baby Not-Yoda going to be a major character throughout the first season? Favreau recently confirmed with Collider that yes, you'll see more of the adorable 50-year-old child because it's pretty important to the whole storyline.

"I wanted to surprise people, and I wanted to—well there are bigger arcs that go through the whole season and the whole throw of the show," Favreau said. "So as fun as it is to reveal new characters and surprise them, it also fits into a larger narrative about what's going on in the galaxy after the revolution, and this is an important character."

This certainly puts us at ease knowing that we'll be seeing more of the child and hopefully see it develop its powers. Needless to say, we can't wait until next week to find out what else Baby Not-Yoda can do.

The Mandalorian Season 1 Episode 3 will premiere on Disney+ on November 22.
