Legendary composer John Williams has made some of the most iconic film scores of all time including Jaws, the Indiana Jones films, Harry Potter, Superman, Jurassic Park, and of course, Star Wars, whose theme is arguably the most popular of all time. Williams has worked on the score for all the Skywalker saga films which ended in 2019. Now, it looks like he is making his return in the galaxy far, far away as he has composed the theme for an upcoming Star Wars series.
According to Variety, Williams has written a theme for the upcoming Obi-Wan Kenobi series. He recorded last week with a Los Angeles orchestra under tight security. This marks his comeback in the franchise as he last worked on a Star Wars project more than two years ago with The Rise of Skywalker (where he earned an Oscar nomination) as well as the theme for Disneyland's Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge.
It is exciting to hear that Williams is going to compose the theme for Obi-Wan Kenobi especially since he rarely works on a TV project and it marks his return on the franchise. It also makes sense that Lucasfilm decided to hire him for the upcoming series since he has composed scores for the titular character in the original Star Wars film and the prequel trilogy. It marks a full-circle moment as he is now also going to work on the theme for the character's live-action comeback.
Williams also just turned 90 recently and it's very impressive that he is still actively working and making more iconic themes such as for Obi-Wan Kenobi. He is also set to compose the scores for Steven Spielberg's upcoming film The Fabelmans and the fifth Indiana Jones film. He is also scheduled to do several concerts throughout this year including the annual Hollywood Bowl event this September. We definitely can't wait to see what he has in store for the upcoming series and, for sure, it's going to be yet another awesome score from him.
