Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order Featurette Covers the Design of BD-1

What is Star Wars without companion droids? We have the likes of R2-D2, BB-8, and K-2SO, and Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order will introduce us to BD-1. Just in, EA Star Wars has dropped a new teaser giving us an inside look at the design of BD and his relevance to the game.

In STAR WARS, droids are more than just robots. They have personality and heart; they're full-blown characters. See how the team behind STAR WARS Jedi: Fallen Order used stellar sound design and animation to create a character with heart.

I have to say, after Battlefront II, I think it's unlikely we're going to get a future game that doesn't have a protagonist with a companion droid. If anything, having a droid companion kind of answers a lot of problems. BD not only helps heal Cal, but he also hacks into tech, projects maps, and store info; without that, we would just have to get some boring old menus and skill trees, and I think that adds less to the immersion.

I'm just wondering how many more of these cute droid names Lucasfilm has in their catalog. I mean, they already used "Deo" twice, once for Battlefront II and another time for the new droid in TROS. No doubt there are also going to be some more cute droids in future games and TV series.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order becomes available for Xbox One, PS4, and PC on Nov. 15.
