Star Wars Holiday Special is the Most Boring Christmas Show or Film According to Study

The entire Star Wars universe has had its fair share of hits and misses throughout the decades but I think we can all agree that the franchise's biggest flop has got to be the Star Wars Holiday Special, a television special that aired in 1978 which aimed to capitalize on the success of A New Hope. To those who haven't seen it (and I totally admire you for that), the special revolves around Chewbacca's quest to return to his family during the festive time.

Even George Lucas admits that he regrets doing the said special and there's a reason why it was never released on various platforms, not even on Disney+ which is home to everything Star Wars. Luke Skywalker actor Mark Hamill also had the harshest words to say about the infamous special and it's safe to say that everyone involved in making the Holiday Special all shared the same feelings towards it.

Now, UK-based price comparison service and switching website Uswitch has hailed the Holiday Special as the most boring Christmas-themed special in existence and with an underwhelming score of just 2.2/10 on IMDB, it definitely takes the cake as the worst festive movie or television show. That's the harsh truth.

The Star Wars Holiday Special has been recreated in LEGO form last year but even that wasn't able to remove the bad taste the "original" left in the mouths of true blue fans of the franchise. Well, at least Lucasfilm learned its lesson and it would be safe to assume that we'll never see anything like it from the Star Wars franchise ever again which is obviously a good thing.

Meanwhile, you can get your Star Wars fix, except of course for the Holiday Special via Disney+.
