Star Wars Guests Won’t Be Able To Do Everything At Galaxy’s Edge During The Soft Opening

Star Wars fans are definitely expecting Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge to be a massive hit once it starts its soft opening later this year. Disneyland has been preparing a whole lot of attractions and experiences for fans, and many are looking forward to the fanfare. But what can guests expect in terms of wait times and long lines at the Star Wars theme park?

According to Touring Plans, guests with reservations to the "soft opening" of Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge better get ready to battle some pretty long lines because it definitely won't be easy getting into the Star Wars-themed land.

"It'll probably look like photos of people waiting in line for food at disaster relief locations," said Len Testa, president of Touring Plans.

There won't be that much to do at Galaxy's Edge during its initial opening. Only one of the theme park's attractions will be available during the opening, Star Wars: Smuggler's Run. Even then, fans expecting to ride Smuggler's Run, build lightsabers, assemble dropds, eat at Docking Bay 7, grab drinks at Oga's Cantina, and then shop around the theme park might be disappointed. It might not be possible to complete all of those activities at Galaxy's Edge during the park's soft opening period.

"Everyone who's going knows what they're getting into, so everyone should handle the long lines pretty well," Testa said. "One of the big variables is going to be the weather. If it's hot or it rains, that could sour the mood pretty quickly."

The Star Wars theme-park is estimated to have a capacity of about 15,000 people. However, crowd size experts believe that Disneyland is going to keep the limit to about 10,000 throughtout the day during the soft opening period. Not only that, but guests are going to be limited to a four-hour visit during that time.

Hopefully, Disneyland will still be able to deliver an "exceptional guest experience" during the soft opening of Galaxy's Edge.

Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge opens on August 29 at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida and then on May 31 at Disneyland Resort in California.
