Star Wars: Gina Carano's Replacement Reportedly Revealed

Last year, Gina Carano, who played Cara Dune during the first two seasons of The Mandalorian, was fired by Lucasfilm following a series of controversial social media posts. The news divided fans with half of them outraged about the actress' firing. Since then, a lot of fans are wondering about how Lucasfilm will address it whether they will recast the role or have another character replace her. Now, it looks like we may have the answer.

A few weeks ago, we learned that Mary Elizabeth Winstead was cast to join the upcoming Ahsoka series. During that time, there are no specific details yet about the character that she will play whether it's an ally or villain. But according to Giant Freakin Robot, Winstead was tapped to be the pseudo-replacement for Carano.

The report stated that it isn't clear yet how Winstead will exactly replace Carano if she will be the new actress playing Cara Dune or her character will be filling in Cara's spot in the story. They did indicate that the character might probably intersect in the events of The Mandalorian, not just in Ahsoka.

It is very likely that Winstead will be playing a new character as she joins the Star Wars universe instead of being the new actress in the role of Cara Dune. Lucasfilm might want to distance themselves from any reference to Carano so they're not going to use Cara Dune in any future projects. If Winstead is indeed going to play a new character, the most likely scenario is that she will fill in Cara Dune's spot in the story of The Mandalorian where she will serve as a new ally of Din Djarin and Greef Karga.

Right now, it's hard to tell if fans will accept Winstead as the replacement for Carano or at least fill in the spot that she left. But as proven by a lot of her previous roles including DCEU's Birds of Prey, Winstead will surely give a great impression as she takes her step into the franchise and we can assume that she will also play a badass character where she will do a lot of action scenes. Either way, she is a welcome addition to the franchise and we definitely can't wait to see her debut in the Mando-Verse.
