Yoda isn't quite what Luke Skywalker was expecting when he went in search of a Jedi Master.
A lot of people were expecting an anime-inspired Star Wars series with Resistance, but it looks like the description was mixed up with Galaxy of Adventures.GoA has been giving us some great animated episodes ever since it debuted, and now we have a new one focusing on Yoda.
Admittedly the shorts that have been coming out have only been giving us looks at the original and prequel trilogies, but I’m hoping there’s something for the sequel fans down the line. I’d love to see a reanimation of the fight between Kylo Ren and Rey or the assault on the Dreadnaught by Poe Dameron.
My guess is they’re waiting for the sequel trilogy to end before they can make more complete shorts based on the characters. We don’t have a look at the movie yet, but everyone is expecting the first official teaser to come out during the Episode IX panel at Star Wars Celebration. As for the title, they’re also expecting that it will be revealed alongside the teaser—just like they did with Avengers: Endgame.
Besides the film, everyone is also expecting a first look at Star Wars: The Mandalorian, which is set to premiere later this year. There’s a lot of pressure on Disney to deliver a live-action Star Wars series, but hopefully showrunner Jon Favreau is up to the task.
No release date has been set for Star Wars: The Mandalorian, but Star Wars Episode IX is set to come out Dec. 20.
