Star Wars Fans’ Outrage Balloons as The Rise of Skywalker Novel Reveals Truth About Rey's Father

It looks like the novelization for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is only making things worse for the fans.

While Lucasfilm has yet to release the book to the public, the company offered copies of the novel at the C2E2 in Chicago last weekend. Fans with a copy of the book discovered that the novelization of The Rise of Skywalker made a few outrageous tweaks/ additions to the movie, and they've been taking to the internet to express their outrage over all the retcons.

Not only did the book confuse fans when it revealed that the version of Palpatine (Ian McDiarmid) in The Rise of Skywalker was actually a clone of the version of Darth Sidious that fans get to see in the original and sequel trilogy, but the novel also retconned the kiss shared by Rey (Daisy Ridley) and Kylo Ren (Adam Driver), sparking outrage among Reylo fanatics.

Now, it looks like the book continues to aggravate the fanbase even further, by revealing that Rey's father was actually a failed clone of Palpatine. Taking to Twitter, fans express their dismay over The Rise of Skywalker novelization, making fun of Rey's heritage as the daughter of Palpatine's clone.

Not only is the whole idea confusing (wasn't Rey supposed to be the granddaughter of Palpatine) but all of these new reveals in the novelization for The Rise of Skywalker fail to make the film any better. If anything, it adds to the divisiveness of the third and final entry in the Skywalker saga.
