2022 seemingly saw the Star Wars universe return to its divisive roots, with live-action shows like The Book of Boba Fett and Obi-Wan Kenobi failing to gratify the fandom the way The Mandalorian did. Thankfully, Lucasfilm was able to deliver another banger with the release of Andor which is quite astonishing considering it's the project fans were least excited about initially.
The Diego Luna-led show, set before the events of the fan-favorite film Rogue One: A Star Wars Story just concluded its first season last week and to many, it can already be considered the best Star Wars series in existence.
In fact, there's an ongoing discourse on Twitter pitting Andor against Disney+'s flagship Star Wars show The Mandalorian, and shockingly enough, even the most avid viewers of the Pedro Pascal series are convinced that Mando and Grogu have officially been dethroned by Cassian as the undisputed king of the franchise's post-sequel era. While there's no denying that Andor is a phenomenally crafted show from top to bottom, I personally think that The Mandalorian still has the slighter edge between the two. Not only did it help reinvigorate Star Wars and restore the fandom's faith in Disney and Lucasfilm following the disastrous sequel trilogy, but it's also home to some of the best moments the franchise has put out in recent memory.
Of course, all of this is subjective so it's still up to you which show you prefer. In the end, it's still a major win for the Star Wars fandom.
All episodes of Andor's first season are available to stream on Disney+. Meanwhile, The Mandalorian Season 3 will reportedly drop on February 22, 2023.
