Star Wars Fans Express Concern Over Taika Waititi Potentially ‘Ruining’ the Franchise

It can't be denied that Taika Waititi was responsible for reinvigorating the Thor film franchise thanks to his involvement in 2017's Thor: Ragnarok. The Chris Hemsworth-led sequel pretty much took the God of Thunder in a different creative direction and it ended up being a welcome surprise.

Now, as Love and Thunder continues to dominate the global box office, Taika is turning his attention to the Star Wars universe and while details about his highly anticipated solo film are still being kept under wraps, longtime fans of the franchise are already invested.

However, the excitement and intrigue were replaced by worry after Thor: Love and Thunder received mixed reviews from fans and critics alike. On Twitter, fans are beginning to doubt whether or not Lucasfilm made the right call by recruiting Taika to helm his own Star Wars film.

Some even voiced their concern that Taika will only "ruin" Star Wars after his involvement in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Check out some of the reactions below:

To be fair, Taika is no longer a stranger in the franchise and if you may recall, he was actually involved in The Mandalorian Season 1, performing the voice of beloved droid IG-11. He even directed the first season's finale which received rave reviews from both fans and critics.

Now, I totally get why some people have ill feelings towards Love and Thunder but I'm pretty sure Taika will redeem himself and won't let his Star Wars project become a divisive one.

Thor: Love and Thunder is already screening in cinemas. Meanwhile, Taika Waititi's untitled Star Wars film is in development.
