We may have lost Carrie Fisher back in 2016, but she continues to live on in the legacy she's left behind as Princess Leia. Today on Oct. 21st would have been her 63rd birthday, and fans and communities have come online to celebrate her.
Besides the multiple tributes that have come out online, Fisher's daughter, Billie Lourd (who also plays Lt. Connix in the Sequel Trilogy), has released a video of her covering Tom Petty's American Girl which she says is one of her mother's favorite songs.
Fisher even got a tribute from none other than Star Trek's William Shatner:
Though Fisher is best known as Princess Leia in Star Wars, she was also a very prolific writer and was said to have been a Hollywood script doctor for years. She even touched up the dialogue to Empire Strikes Back while she was working on the film.
Fisher was known to have a fantastic sense of humor, and had even performed hilarious roasts for Harrison Ford and George Lucas:
Though Star Wars: The Last Jedi may have been Fisher's last completed movie, Lucasfilm is going to be bringing Leia back for The Rise of Skywalker. The film is said to be using several archived shots they have of Fisher from the past two films and based on what we've seen in the trailers, they've done a great job bringing her back to life. Let's just hope they managed to salvage a memorable part for the last Skywalker.
