Star Wars Fan Theory Suggests Snoke was a Clone of Grand Moff Tarkin

Bringing Palpatine back to life, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker went by the way of many Star Wars fan theories, revealing that Snoke was actually a creation of the Sith Lord. When Darth Sidious is first seen on Exegol at the start of the film, fans get to see the camera panning over to tanks filled with the lifeless bodies of clones of Snoke.

However, while Star Wars fans all concede that Palpatine was behind the powerful First Order villain, the film failed to reveal who exactly Snoke was a clone of. Was Snoke a clone of Palpatine, or another being that the Emperor created?

According to a Star Wars theory that's making the rounds on Reddit, Snoke may actually be a clone of Grand Moff Tarkin. The Imperial commander might not have had the same power as Palpatine had, but the Emperor did have faith in Tarkin.

Setting a side by side picture of Snoke and Grand Moff Tarkin on Reddit, the theorist proves just how much the two Star Wars villains look like each other. Peter Cushing's sharp cheekbones seem to be reflected in the sallow face of Snoke.

It seems like Palpatine may have tried to construct Snoke based on Tarkin – though the outcome may not have been as close to the prominent looks of the Imperial commander as one would hope for. Perhaps Palpatine botched his attempts to clone Tarkin. Or he wanted a more menacing version of the man.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is currently available on Digital HD. The film is set for release on Blu-Ray, DVD, and 4K UHD on March 31, 2020.
