Star Wars Fan Shares Political 'Thriller' Re-cut Of The Phantom Menace

The Star Wars prequel trilogy might be focused on Anakin Skywalker's turn towards the Dark Side, but even if Anakin were to be removed, it seems like fans can find themselves with a pretty exciting Star Wars political thriller.

Taking to Twitter, a Star Wars fan decided to share his own recut of Star Wars: The Phantom Menace that takes away all of the Anakin Skywalker and Jedi elements in the movie. What's left behind are the trade disputes and the politics of the galaxy far, far away, giving fans a political thriller that some can still enjoy.

Check out the cut down here:

There are a few things to note about the re-cut though – the video runs for only two minutes and twenty seconds so that it can fit in Twitter. This means that there's actually more politics to The Phantom Menace than most would believe. According to the Star Wars fan who made the cut, he actually had to omit some of the "really juicy Trade Federation motions being debated,"

It's a pretty interesting way of cutting The Phantom Menace. Thanks to the cut, we get to see the film in a different light, making it clear how Palpatine was slowly setting the stage for the building of the Empire. It looks like George Lucas was really interested in fleshing out the political atmosphere of the galaxy far, far away in the prequels. The video has already gotten over 530,000 views and the tweet sharing the video has gotten more than 11,000 likes and 2400 retweets.
