Star Wars: Ewan McGregor Shares Initial Reaction to Hearing John Williams' Obi-Wan Kenobi Theme

There is little doubt that fans felt emotional today when they first heard the Obi-Wan Kenobi theme by John Williams. However, Star Wars fans weren't the only ones who were impressed by the theme. Ewan McGregor has shared his reaction to hearing the theme for the first time but making it happen was not as easy as we'd expected!

It's no secret that Obi-Wan Kenobi was a tough series to film considering that production happened in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic. Interestingly, Ewan McGregor told Screenrant that John Williams struggled to complete the music for the Star Wars show and he confirmed that finally hearing the theme was worth all the trouble.

“I didn't get a chance to hear it just now, but I heard it being recorded the first time it was ever played by an orchestra. I wasn't allowed to go - I was really annoyed because I wanted to be in that room so badly - for COVID protocols,” McGregor said. “It was really hard for John Williams to get his orchestra to play it actually as one orchestra without having to record it in different sections, but he really pushed for it.”

He continued, “And as a result, they wouldn't let any visitors, so I wasn't able to be there when they recorded it. But I had a live link, and I sat at home with my eyes shut, just listening to them. Amazing. It was amazing to hear it.”

We all know what Ewan McGregor is talking about. Hearing the theme for the first time is an emotional and nostalgic moment. With that in mind, we can't wait to hear it again in anticipation of next week's episode.

The first two episodes of Obi-Wan Kenobi are now streaming on Disney+.
