Star Wars: Ewan McGregor Officially Confirms Obi-Wan Kenobi Series On Disney+

It's official: Ewan McGregor is returning as Obi-Wan Kenobi in the highly anticipated Star Wars series that will air on Disney+ and there's no better person to confirm it than the Revenge of the Sith actor himself.

McGregor made an appearance at the D23 Expo 2019 alongside Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy to confirm the Obi-Wan Kenobi series. They revealed that the scripts for the show have already been completed and McGregor is expected to begin filming for the new show by 2020.

It was also confirmed that the Obi-Wan series will take place eight years after the events in Revenge of the Sith. This means that the show could explore Obi-Wan's life after he decided to stay on Tatooine to watch over Luke Skywalker as a child.

There have been speculations that the new series will introduce a young Luke along with Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru. Interestingly, Obi-Wan's presence on Tatooine isn't exactly a welcome idea for the couple in the Star Wars comic books and there is a possibility that this will be one of the story arcs that will be explored in the show.

People certainly had their doubts about the Obi-Wan series as some pointed out that McGregor might be too busy to take on the project. However, this is something that we have been looking forward to for such a long time. It's still unclear when the show will actually air on Disney+. Either way, we're just glad that McGregor has made it official and we can't wait to see his return as the not-so-old Ben Kenobi.

The Obi-Wan series has not yet been given an official title or release date. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
