Star Wars: Episode IX Will Feature Surprising Time Jump After The Last Jedi

It looks like Star Wars: Episode IX will be keeping in line with one of the franchise's tradition. It has been revealed that the next film in the current trilogy will take a major time-leap after the events in Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

According to Empire Magazine, Episode IX will take place a full year after the survivors of the Resistance managed to escape Crait with the help of Luke Skywalker (via ComicBook.com). This means there could be some major changes for the characters next year.

This is certainly in line with previous reports that Rey will be donning something different in Episode IX. There have been claims that Luke's apprentice will slip into a more "knightly" costume and even wield a crossguard lightsaber of her own.

Rey isn't the only one who is getting a new look next year. It was also reported that Kylo Ren will repair his broken helmet The new Supreme Leader might even lead an army of Stormtroopers in black and red who will have masks that resemble his own headpiece.

These are all interesting details indeed. Although we can guarantee that the time-leap comes from a reliable source, we do recommend taking the information about the costumes with a grain of salt. Let's hope that these could be confirmed once we get our first glimpse at the Episode IX trailer.

The trailer might not be ready just yet but fans might get a treat on Christmas Day. It was previously reported that a behind-the-scenes reel from Episode IX will be dropped on December 25.

Star Wars: Episode IX will premiere on December 20, 2019.
