Star Wars: Episode IX Trailer Footage Reportedly Arriving In Cinemas

It isn't a secret how Star Wars fans have been met with disappointment the past few months without any trailer for Star Wars: Episode IX. Not only was the trailer absent for the Christmas and New Year holidays, but it was also missed at the NFL Superbowl game earlier this month. While most fans have resigned themselves to the likelihood of the trailer releasing during this year's Star Wars Celebration, word now has it that a glimpse of the teaser trailer for Episode IX might be arriving soon.

According to Fantha Tracks, a source has just disclosed to them the information that a cryptic digital file has just been delivered to UK Cinemas. The digital file from Disney is suspected to contain footage from the third and final installment in the Star Wars sequel trilogy.

"A major UK cinema chain has received a Digital Cinema Package (DCP) from Disney this morning called 'TT1-SW9,' (Teaser Trailer 1 Star Wars 9). It's encrypted with a KDM (Key Delivery Message) so they can't view the contents until they get the key," the site said in its report. "No news on when they'll get the key, but they had the Aladdin trailer DCP for two weeks before it came out on Monday…therefore, Friday might be the day, but that's pure speculation."

While we advise Star Wars fans to take the report with a grain of salt, an encrypted DCP file from Disney with a name that could be deciphered as the direct acronym for the first teaser trailer for Episode IX sounds like something that the Mickey Mouse House would deliver to cinemas.

Still, a teaser in the middle of February doesn't fall in line with Disney's marketing strategy for previous Star Wars films. Let's just wait and see what happens.

Star Wars: Episode IX premieres December 20, 2019.
