Star Wars: Episode IX Title Rumor Says The Film Is Named 'Son Of Darkness'

Marvel fans might be busy celebrating the trailer and title that Disney might have released for Avengers 4, but it seems like things have been pretty quiet over at the Star Wars base with Lucasfilm holding Star Wars: Episode IX's secrets close to its chest.

However, while there's been very little word on what's to come in the sequel trilogy's third and final installment, rumors continue to circulate online, the most recent of which offers a potential reveal at the official title of Episode IX.

A Star Wars fan claiming to have information from a source batting .700 just recently took to Reddit to pitch a title for Star Wars: Episode IX, and while there's no word yet how accurate the title might be, the fan names the film Star Wars: Son of Darkness.

According to this fan, the title was provided by a person who gave him other Star Wars information that panned out about 70% of the time so the name Son of Darkness could be legitimate. Son of Darkness was actually a name that Snoke used on Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) in The Last Jedi when he tried to get the estranged son of Han (Harrison Ford) and Leia (the late Carrie Fisher) to strike down Rey (Daisy Ridley).

Of course, as with any rumor online, fans ought to take this report with a grain of salt. It's hard to trust rumors that circulate online – there's no knowing how reliable this fan's actual source really is.

Let's just wait and see whether Lucasfilm finally drops the ball soon enough.

Star Wars: Episode IX hits cinemas December 20, 2019.
