Star Wars: Episode IX Star Naomi Ackie Reportedly Playing Finn’s Sister

Last year, Lucasfilm welcomed Lady Mcbeth star Naomi Ackie to Star Wars' galaxy far, far away, naming the actress as one of the new faces set to join the cast of Star Wars: Episode IX. Though the actress' role in the film was yet to be revealed, rumor started spreading that the Hollywood newcomer might actually be playing the daughter of Star Wars fan-favorite smuggler, Lando Calrissian (Billy Dee Williams) who was set to appear in the third and final installment in Lucasfilm's new sequel trilogy.

However, according to a new report by We Got This Covered, Ackie might not be playing Lando's daughter after all. Sources have told the site that the actress may very well be playing Jannah, a character whose backstory is very similar to that of Finn's (John Boyega). Not only was Jannah abducted as a child, but she was also trained to be a stormtrooper.

This is definitely interesting news. There have also been rumors that Ackie would be playing Finn's sister in Episode IX. Could this new report confirm that the two have been abducted from the same family? Or could they perhaps have been raised together under the same squad in the First Order?

In other Star Wars news, the site also has updates on Zorii, a character believed to be played by Keri Russell in the film. Fans have noticed that Zorii's get-up is very similar to that of Attack of the Clones' Zam Wesell. Now, sources say that Zorii is a bounty hunter as well.

Of course, as exciting as this might all sound, fans ought to be reminded to take these leaks with a grain of salt. We can't really trust anything until we get full confirmation from Lucasfilm.

Star Wars: Episode IX premieres December 20, 2019.
