Star Wars: Episode IX Rumor Says Disney Is Negotiating Hayden Christensen’s Return

With so many original Star Wars characters making their way to Star Wars: Episode IX, word has been going around that prequel trilogy actor Hayden Christensen would also be making his way to the third and final movie in the sequel trilogy. Of course, these rumors aren't entirely new, but the most recent report seems to hold some sort of credibility to it.

According to a new post by Express, insiders tell them that Disney is now "negotiating to bring Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker for a sequence in Episode IX."

The details about Christensen's involvement in the movie don't go beyond that, however, there have been multiple reports saying that fans would get to see Vader in The Last Jedi sequel saying that Darth Vader would appear in the film as a Force Ghost. These reports claim support from Christensen's upcoming appearance in Star Wars Celebration Chicago in 2019, saying that the actor could only be attending the event for one thing – to prepare fans for his eventual return in Episode IX.

While this might sound exciting to fans (we've barely seen a Force Ghost Vader outside of the prequels), fans, of course, ought to be reminded to take the report with a grain of salt. Online reports can't be trusted fully. For one, negotiations with Lucasfilm actually sounds pretty late at this point in time considering that principal photography for Episode IX is set to complete on February. Secondly, what would a Force Ghost of Vader do in Episode IX?

Let's wait and see.

Star Wars: Episode IX premieres December 20, 2019.
