Star Wars: Episode IX Reportedly To Feature Rey’s Force Lightning

Seeing how much she improved in Star Wars: The Last Jedi, fans can only assume that Rey (Daisy Ridley) becomes stronger in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. Not only does the Jakku Orphan have the sacred Jedi texts to guide her, but she also has a lot of time to train considering the fact that Episode IX is going to take place a few years after the Resistance's narrow escape from the First Order on Crait.

What kind of new Force abilities will Rey have in The Rise of Skywalker? Will she have the same skill as a Jedi Master?

Lucasfilm might be trying its best to keep The Rise of Skywalker's secrets under lock and key, but Making Star Wars has a source that claims that Rey is going to show quite a number of new Force abilities in the upcoming sequel trilogy entry. Not only will Rey showcase the ability to Force Heal after finding her group being attacked by a sandworm, but the site says that the heroine will also be able to use Force Lightning.

According to the report, Rey and Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) are going to have a struggle over a ship. During the battle between the two, Rey starts summoning lightning on the tips of her fingers for the very first time by accident, and it destroys the ship that they're on.

Though some fans might equate the ability to Palpatine, readers ought to know that Force Lightning is a power that both the Sith and the Jedi can use.

We'll just have to wait and see whether or not this ability finds its way to Episode IX.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker premieres December 20, 2019.
