The Knights of Ren has been teased way back in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, but they were nowhere to be found in The Last Jedi. As it turns out, the group will be back in Episode IX, and it's possible that we got a little new info on them.
As per Making Star Wars, the description of the Knights has been changed from "Force Wielding Mercenaries" to "a group with many special abilities." It's also been speculated for a while that their allegiance has always been with Kylo and that they have no qualms about him taking out Supreme Leader Snoke.
If that was the case though, I'm really curious to see how these Knights have formed and who are the members of their ranks. If they get popular enough, I'm sure Marvel will be eager to release some kind of comic, but I'd also be happy if the film found some time to give us even a little backstory on the characters.
Interestingly enough, it was almost the Knights that Rey and Kylo went up against in the Throne Room in The Last Jedi. They were replaced with the Praetorian Guards though because director Rian Johnson didn't want Kylo to have any personal connection to whoever they were fighting.
I'm sure a lot of fans would be happy to see the Knights come back this time around. A lot of them were bummed about their absence in the last film, and it seems that Episode IX would be their last chance to make a comeback onscreen.
Catch Star Wars Episode IX in theaters Dec. 20, 2019.
