Star Wars: Episode IX Leaks Suggest That Rey Might Actually Die

Lucasfilm might be keeping Star Wars: Episode IX's secrets close to its chest while the film continues working on principal photography, but leaks and rumors continue to make their way online, satiating a fanbase ever hungry for new information about the upcoming Star Wars movie.

Now, with fans anticipating the inevitable meeting between Rey (Daisy Ridley) and Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) in the third and final film in the Star Wars sequel trilogy, new leaks describe a full scene which suggests that the Jakku orphan might actually die in the film.

According to Express, there have been leaks describing three storyboard images from Episode IX. One of the images is described to feature Kylo Ren holding Rey in his arms with waves of fire behind him in a scene that appears to be the fiery destruction of a First Order base. Kylo Ren's lightsaber can be found on the floor, damaged.

In another storyboard art piece, Kylo Ren is seen kneeling over Rey, her eyes closed as a sign of unconsciousness or death. The Supreme Leader's head goes down the same way Luke (Mark Hamill) does when he watched his father pass away in Return of the Jedi.

The third image has Kylo Ren moving his hand over Rey's forehead, a tear running across his face. Kylo Ren's arm is cut, and many parts of his clothes are ripped apart. Rey's clothes are in the same state.

While fans ought to be warned to take these leaks with a grain of salt, the idea of Rey dying in Episode IX would definitely be an interesting turn of events for the Star Wars franchise.Major Star Wars heroes almost always survive during their assigned trilogies – Rey dying would be a breath of fresh air. We can only wonder what kind of consequences Rey's death would bring, both for the Resistance and for Kylo Ren who seemingly has feelings for the Force-sensitive Jakku orphan.

What do you think? Should Rey die in Episode IX?
