Star Wars: Episode IX Leak Reveals Luke Skywalker Reunion With Unexpected Character

We already know that Mark Hamill will reprise his role as Luke Skywalker in Star Wars: Episode IX. However, a new leak possibly confirms that Luke will be reunited with a character he hasn't seen for a long time.

According to Express, Luke is set for a major reunion with his father's Force ghost in Episode IX. Interestingly, the vision that appears in front of the Jedi is not what we would expect of Anakin Skywalker.

The report states that Luke's Force ghost will be shown "standing in a cave with many floating white orbs" facing his father's own Force ghost. The difference is, "it does not appear to be the youthful Hayden Christensen."

Christensen had previously appeared as Anakin's ghost in the remastered copy of Return of the Jedi where he stood alongside Yoda and Obi-Wan Kenobi. The version of the Force ghost that will reportedly appear in Episode IX is more of "a fusion of Hayden and Sebastian Shaw."

Shaw famously played the unmasked Darth Vader in Return of the Jedi. Interestingly, the reason why Episode IX is changing up the appearance of Anakin's Force ghost is to provide a version that would be "familiar to both prequel fans and original trilogy fans."

It's a strange new idea that sounds like a load of Bantha poodoo so we would recommend taking this information with more than a grain of salt. Nevertheless, J.J. Abrams might surprise us by bringing Anakin back into the main Star Wars storyline.

There have been speculations that Episode IX might also feature the return of Palpatine. Is it possible that the Sith Lord will be making an appearance to try and bring Kylo Ren further into the Dark Side? We'll find out when the film finally hits theaters next year.

Star Wars: Episode IX is scheduled for release on December 20, 2019.
