Star Wars: Episode IX Could Feature Major Darth Vader Easter Egg

Big things are happening in Star Wars: Episode IX. A new set is reportedly being built and it could confirm a major Darth Vader Easter egg in the highly anticipated sequel.

A new report reveals that a huge set is currently being constructed in the hangars at RAF Cardington Sheds in Bedfordshire, England. The set is believed to be connected to previous reports that certain helicopter shot sequences are being filmed over Mount Etna.

But what exactly does this mean? Mount Etna was previously used as the backdrop for Mustafar in Revenge of the Sith. If the mountain is being filmed again for Episode IX and the footage could be used in connection to a large structure, there is a possibility that we will see Darth Vader's castle once again.

Vader's threshold was previously featured in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Although it is still unclear if the castle still stands, it is possible that Kylo Ren will seek it out in an effort to get guidance from his grandfather.

The report does confirm that "a large castle-like set piece is under construction and said to be used for the Mount Etna sequence." Although the structure allegedly resembles Vader's castle, the outlet states that it is "still too early to tell."

It wouldn't be a major surprise if Episode IX brings the story back to Vader. After all, Kylo has lost all of his mentors in Star Wars: The Last Jedi. The former Ben Solo could attempt to connect with the departed Sith Lord whom he greatly idolizes. Will we see Vader's Force Ghost next year? We'll have to wait for more updates on this story in the near future.

The official title for Star Wars: Episode IX has not yet been announced. However, this could be revealed before the end of the year. The sequel is scheduled for release on December 20, 2019.
