Star Wars: Episode IX Comic Introduces Fans To Admiral Ackbar’s Son

Aside from losing Luke (Mark Hamill) to the Force in Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Star Wars fans also suffered the loss of fan-favorite veteran commander, Admiral Ackbar. The Star Wars side-character was loved ever since he made his infamous line "it's a trap" in Star Wars: Return of the Jedi and the Rebel commander made it through the battle against the Empire and on to the battle against the First Order in the Star Wars sequel trilogy.

Now, thanks to the new comic Journey to Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker – Allegiance #2, fans get to meet Admiral Ackbar's son, Aftab Ackbar.

However, because of Admiral Ackbar's death, the group is met with hostility in Mon Cala. Luckily, it seems like Aftab doesn't hold any ill will towards the group, because Ackbar's son greets Leia with a warm embrace when the Resistance team arrive on the planet.

The two shortly discuss their loss, with Leia grieving over the fact that they couldn't bring Admiral Ackbar's body home. After their little discussion, Leia then discusses her hope to recruit Aftab to the cause. We can't really see the rest in the preview for the comic, but if Leia succeeds, we'll probably get to see Aftab in The Rise of Skywalker.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker premieres December 20, 2019.
